Senior Scientist

FULL-TIME Senior Scientist in our Union City, California office.

Days/Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Rate of Pay: $128,939.00 per year

Duties includes:

Small Molecule Synthesis and Purification:

  • Synthesize, purify, and characterize small molecules through multi-step synthesis, including ligands and monomers.
  • Characterize small molecules using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and Mass Spectrometry (MS).

Polymerization Synthesis and Modifications:

  • Synthesize and purify homopolymers and copolymers using diverse polymerization methods such as radical, coordination, photopolymerization, ring opening, ionic, and condensation.
  • Synthesize polymers using various catalysts, initiators, chain transfer agents, and synthesis conditions.
  • Innovate and modify polymeric materials to achieve desired properties, focusing on airsensitive reactions and controlled molecular weights.

Advanced Polymer Studies and Analytical Techniques:

  • Explore the structure-property relationships of high molecular weight polymers, both biobased and petroleum-based.
  • Conduct thermodynamic and kinetic studies, and post-polymerization modifications.
  • Characterize polymer samples through NMR Spectroscopy and Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC).
  • Employ advanced analytical techniques like spectroscopy, microscopy, and mechanical testing for comprehensive polymer characterization.

Inorganic Compounds:

  • Synthesize and characterize inorganic compounds, including complexes, catalysts, and organometallic materials.

Process Improvement:

  • Improve processes, formulations, testing, documentation (SOP), and scale-up.

Special Requirements:

Position requires Ph.D.'s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Materials Science, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
